Valuing water as a financial risk
by China Water Risk 16 May, 2018
We are excited! China’s Green Finance Committee has just revealed the first-ever book on Environmental Risk Analysis (ERA) for financial institutions. While we are pleased that CWR was invited to co-author the water risk chapter, we know that ERA is only as good as the underlying data. Here, we partnered with China’s leader SynTao to take stock of where Chinese companies are on different types of environmental disclosure by sector. The new report released today highlights that as China prioritises the environment, more disclosure is needed to match rising risks. This month, check out where the E is in ESG in China plus other CSR developments in SynTao’s 10 trends for 2018. Also, catch up on 5 trends from last month’s China’s Green Finance Committee Annual Conference. Elsewhere, Natural Capital Coalition’s Gough & Harris-Confino expand on connecting finance to water risk, while S&P Dow Jones Indices Trucost’s Tsang & March share how growing businesses can manage water risks. Also Environmental Risk Profiler’s Thieriot explains how to identify, monitor & track risks. Meanwhile, with the Water Ten Law in effect this year, bans on chemical production have already begun. Balancing economic and water protection is a wicked problem. Don’t just take our word, see what IWRA experts have to say about “6 wicked problems”. Solutions also play a part … join us later this month in Shanghai at the Industrial Water Leaders Forum at Aquatech China!
