F&B ripe for disruption from farm to fork

Producing food can be thirsty & dirty, especially if they are finished with plastic packaging. Pollution from beer bottle production rivals that of iron & steel and cement industries, according to IPE. Even bottled water has a high water & energy cost. This can lead to reputational risks for brands. The industry is also seeing new foods like meatless meat and egg-less mayonnaise that are disrupting entire supply chains.

F&B is not only exposed in their own production but also face upstream risks from agriculture and China, is the No. 1 producer of many agricultural products. On top of this, supply chain action is lacking with around 80% of brands not in the Top 100 in IPE’s 2017 CITI report. Explore the Big Picture for more on F&B and what is happening in The Latest.
